It's Weather

disobedience artistic for a healthy climate imagination

É Clima (It's Climate) is a campaign based on the environmental and climate justice challenges facing Brazil in 2023. we chose 3 problems to develop:

1. Healthy eating

2. Waste Management

3. Memory and climate justice

We want a Brazil with climate imagination, without hunger and with a huge reduction in waste production. As climate change is not just a scientific phenomenon, but a cultural one, we work to promote the necessary cultural change in relation to the natural world.

Every Wednesday, dozens of collectives from all over Brazil post content from the It's the Weather campaign on their social networks.

Below you can access all the campaign material and download the cards for posting or printing! If you'd like to find out more and take part in the collective posts that take place every Wednesday, please get in touch.

Real food is what guarantees our health! 🥗

Real food is fresh food that comes from the ground, such as rice, beans, potatoes, pumpkin, corn, cassava, etc. 🍳🥬🌽🍗

🍟🧋 In the food industry, ultra-processed products are of very poor nutritional quality, as well as undergoing genetic alterations, the use of pesticides, refinement, hydrogenation, etc.

To look like "food", various synthetic chemical additives, dyes and flavorings are needed to give food its color, taste, smell, softness and appearance.

🛑🙅🏾 This system is directly linked to increased food insecurity, as it delivers nutritionally poor products, as well as being associated with environmental imbalance and the emergence of diseases.

🚨 In the late 1970s, @cocacola brought out a disposable plastic PET bottle to replace the iconic glass bottle. Today the company is the largest producer of plastic waste in the world, followed by Nestlé, PepsiCo, Mondelez International - the company behind brands such as Oreo and Nabisco - and Unilever.

👀 The ranking was made by an international audit of plastic waste, conducted by the Break Free From Plastic movement.

🌎 Global plastics production increased from 2 million in 1950 to 400 million tons in 2015 and the trend is for this number to quadruple by 2050.

♻️ We need urgent and drastic reductions in plastic production and consumption, because recycling can't cope! Although it's an important tip, there's no recycling that can handle the production of so many tons.

"Let's build a forest, hanging gardens of urbanity, where there can be a little more desire, joy, life and pleasure, instead of flagstones covering streams and creeks. After all, life is wild and breaks out in cities too."

🏹 In Indigenous Month, we bring this reflection by Ailton Krenak to think about another way of being and belonging to a collective dynamic.

🍀📚 Excerpts from the book Futuro Ancestral by Ailton Krenak

☀️🔥 The higher the temperature rises, the more exposed the planet becomes, increasing the risk to natural and human systems. A radical change is needed in the energy sector. The global goal of curbing warming to a maximum of 1.5ºC by the end of the century has practically already failed, as temperatures are expected to reach this level in the next decade.

✊🏽 🔎 The climate justice movement is drawing attention to the fact that women and girls, especially from the Global South, make up one of the most impacted groups. The climate emergency can be considered one more axis of oppression that adds to issues linked to poverty, education, access to natural resources, sexual violence and many other factors that, overlapping, generate situations of profound inequality.

🌡️ In terms of the energy transition, in order to stabilize the global temperature increase at 1.5ºC, the use of mineral coal needs to fall by 95%, oil by 60% and natural gas by 45% by 2050.

🌱 "The Future is Compostable! 🍂

♻️ Composting is a natural process of decomposition that transforms food waste into a rich organic compost that can be used to improve the soil and the health of plants, as well as reducing the "waste" that often ends up in landfills or dumps.

🪴 Organic waste accounts for 50% of the country's solid waste, which reinforces the importance of adopting ways to avoid improper disposal.

Municipalities are responsible for setting up composting systems for organic waste, as well as making it possible to use the compost produced.

💡 ENERGY TRANSITION, CLEAN and FAIR, is about changing the way we produce energy. Prioritizing renewable energy sources that don't harm the environment. Bringing clean energy to all people, connecting this process to the social and technological development of communities and regions, working to ensure that the poorest are not left with the environmental damage generated by the sector.

♻️ Solar and wind power are by far the lowest cost options with the greatest potential to reduce pollutant emissions and generate local jobs. Brazil has great potential to make the transition in the energy sector, but recent gas exploration projects using fracking go against the grain.

🧨☠️ FRACKING is a technique that drills and blasts kilometers into the earth to extract natural gas. The problem is that this gas leaks out, which can cause fires, contaminate the groundwater, water and soil, causing illnesses for people, damaging agricultural production, livestock and families who depend on the land and fishing for their livelihoods.

Energy transition is an opportunity to create jobs, reduce environmental impact and social inequalities, not to accentuate them!

Brazil generates more than 75 million tons of waste every year! That's an average of 380 kilos per person. 😨

🚚🗑️ Almost all of this waste goes to landfills, dumps or ends up in rivers, lakes and seas, but that doesn't have to be the case. Recyclables can be reintroduced into the production chain and organics into nature. Only waste cannot be reused and would be what we call garbage.

♻️ 90% of everything that is recycled passes through the hands of waste pickers, and it is these people who will give the correct destination to what you discard. Separating organic waste from dry waste is the first step towards recycling.

🪴 Want to go further? Separate organics into compostable and waste. There are many ways to make use of vegetable peelings, leaves and plants. Who knows, maybe you can support a community composting plant and halve the amount you send to landfill? Let's make a change.

💧 35 million people have no access to treated water in Brazil. The North is the region that receives the least.

😰 Despite having an extensive hydrographic system, formed mainly by the Amazon River and its tributaries, little of this water feeds the residents. Most of it is used to generate energy in hydroelectric plants.

✊🏽 Guaranteeing the right to water means achieving universal basic sanitation, bringing sewage and piped water to the peripheries and marginalized areas. These actions must be linked to health, housing and environmental policies.

🤑 The entry of the private sector into sanitation could mean increased inequality in access to services, as the tendency is for private operators to choose to invest in services in the most profitable areas.

🌎 Water is a renewable resource, but not an inexhaustible one. We must take care that it continues to exist and fight for it to remain public and collective.

All protectors of the planet must fight against the Temporal Framework! Native peoples are guardians of the forest, and the forest is the guardian of the climate 🌻

Our master Cacique Raoni declares: NO TO THE TIME MARK 📣

Bill 490/2007 is an attempt to legalize illegal mining, land grabbing, deforestation and the genocide of indigenous peoples, as it attacks the right of native Brazilians to exist.

The bill determines that only indigenous lands occupied by the original peoples until October 5, 1988, the date of the promulgation of the Federal Constitution, will be recognized.

It's the erasure of more than 500 years of resistance, a struggle that didn't begin in 1988.

We are champions in the murder of environmental defenders. According to data from Global Witness, Brazil is one of the most lethal countries in the world for environmental defenders.

💚 The couple of extractivist leaders José Cláudio and Maria were executed in 2011 in the town of Nova Ipixuna, southeast Pará. Killed for defending the forest from the greed of loggers.

👺 The gunmen have been arrested, but the logger who ordered the murder is still on the run. Impunity means that these consortiums of death continue to operate.

✊🏽 We continue to honor the memory of José Cláudio and Maria, Chico Mendes, Bruno and Dom, Ari Uru Eu Wau Wau, Dorothy, Paulo Paulino Guajajara and so many other forest defenders murdered for standing in the way of the interests of logging companies, mining and large-scale agribusiness.

Absurd! It's the middle of 2023 and the government still maintains a tax exemption for agrochemicals. 🤮

This Friday, the 16th, is the last day for the Supreme Court to rule on the unconstitutionality of the benefits package called Bolsa Agrotóxicos.

💸 Every year, the Brazilian state fails to collect more than R$ 10 billion because of these exemptions. The tax benefits have no impact on the value of the basic food basket in the country and especially favor large companies that work with large-scale production.

☠️ There has been a record number of new pesticides approved in Brazil in the last three years. Together, Bayer and BASF have had 45 new pesticides approved, 19 of which contain substances banned in the European Union.

While the big agro-export companies and the European pesticide industry seek to maximize their profits, one person dies of pesticide poisoning in Brazil every two days, and around 20% of these victims are children and adolescents aged between 0 and 19.

🥗 What's the food like in the schools in your city?

On 13.06.23, Bill 1.662/2019, which PROHIBITS THE SALE OF ULTRAPROCESSED foods in public and private schools in Rio de Janeiro, was unanimously APPROVED by the Rio de Janeiro City Council.

A great victory that can serve as an example for the whole country. It's very important to have environments that promote healthy habits and offer real food. 🥬🌽

Brazilians' eating habits have changed over time. Along with a series of socio-cultural transformations, the availability of fresh or minimally processed foods has fallen while the availability of processed and ultra-processed food products has increased.

🤔 "Now, something is strange: Brazil is one of the world's largest food producers, and recent harvests have set historic records. How can it be that we're still living on Planet Hunger?"
From Hunger to Famine: Dialogues with Josué de Castro

👩🏽‍🌾 Agroecology can cure hunger in Brazil, since family farmers produce most of what the Brazilian population eats.

⚠️Somos record hunger, deforestation and grain production and while 58.7% of people face some degree of food insecurity, grain production will reach more than 260 million tons in the 22/23 harvest.

🤑🚜 The growth in soybean and corn production is accompanied by a huge increase in deforestation in the Amazon.

💚 In contrast, agroecological and family chains are less vulnerable to the international market and are the most suitable model for solving the issue of food insecurity, which affects almost half of the population.

Let's strengthen the local production of family farmers in your region? Buying and consuming local and local food makes all the difference to the local economy and our health.

🛢️ In the middle of 2023, the Brazilian government plans to explore for oil at the mouth of the Amazon.

🔥Burning oil contributes to global warming. The global goal of curbing warming to a maximum of 1.5ºC by the end of the century has practically already failed, as the odds are that the temperature will reach this level within the next decade.

👉🏽 The solution is to stop producing fossil fuels and invest in renewable energies. The so-called Energy Transition.

🏝️ In addition to global issues, exploration off the northern coast of Brazil would affect the more than 2 million people who make their living from fishing in the region. Not to mention the complex reef systems and the largest concentration of mangroves on the planet. An oil spill could compromise this entire ecosystem. Add to that the threat of rising sea levels that could swallow up coastal regions like Marajó and Bailique. A real disaster.

💰 The hype is that exploration can generate development for the region, but this is not certain. Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro, for example, has seen its revenue grow as a result of oil exploration, but this has had little effect on the quality of life and HDI of the municipality.

😢 The experience of other centers of exploitation shows that crowds are attracted by job vacancies, but without the necessary technical qualifications they end up helpless. Specialized job vacancies are filled by outsiders.

🌱 Brazil has great potential to make a clean and fair energy transition, opting for renewable sources of solar and wind energy, creating jobs and reducing social inequalities. This requires commitment and technical debate that prioritizes the lives of people and biomes, not just the profit motives of multinationals.

💧 The waters of the Cerrado feed three of the largest river basins on the South American continent and nine of the twelve Brazilian river basins.

📈 Inpe data published this week shows that deforestation in the Cerrado has increased by 21%.

🪵 Most of this deforestation has been carried out by agribusiness, and believe it or not, in a "legal" way. In recent years there has been a record number of deforestation permits issued by the states, which has led to native vegetation being replaced by crops such as soy and cotton.

🌳 Many plants in the Cerrado have only a third of their structure above ground and, in order to survive in a nutrient-poor environment, they have developed deep, highly branched roots. This complex system retains water and feeds the plants during the dry season. When there is excess water, the roots act like soggy sponges, sending the unabsorbed liquid into the groundwater.

🌾 With the expansion of livestock farming and large grain plantations, native trees are being replaced by short-rooted vegetation that cannot carry water to the bottom.

🚰 Preserving the cerrado is guaranteeing our water security.

🌱 What biome are you in?

🇧🇷 Brazil is made up of six distinct biomes: the Amazon, the Caatinga, the Cerrado, the Atlantic Forest, the Pampa and the Pantanal. Each of these environments is home to different types of vegetation and fauna.

🌳The Amazon Rainforest is Brazil's best preserved biome. Covering approximately 5.5 million square kilometers, the Amazon is the largest continuous tropical rainforest in the world and is home to the greatest biodiversity on the planet. It extends over nine countries, most of which are located in Brazil, covering states such as Amazonas, Pará and Acre, among others.

🏹 Despite the challenges facing the conservation of the Amazon, including illegal deforestation, forest fires and economic pressures, there are environmental protection areas, indigenous reserves and conservation units that contribute to the preservation of this biome.

🪵 The least preserved biome in Brazil is the Cerrado. Despite being Brazil's second largest biome, covering an area of around 2 million square kilometers, the Cerrado faces serious challenges in terms of preservation and conservation.

😃 Tell us which biome you're in and what vegetation or animal is characteristic of your biome?

👩‍🌾 July 25th is Family Farming Day and July 28th is Farmer's Day.

🏡These dates are an opportunity to value and recognize the work of family farmers, who contribute significantly to food production and the country's sustainable development.

🌱 Family farming is responsible for a significant portion of food production in Brazil. According to the 2017 Agricultural Census, carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), approximately 70% of the food consumed daily by Brazilians is produced by family farming. This is an essential contribution to the country's food security and agricultural economy.

Brazil's main flying river is the Amazon Air River, which originates in the Atlantic Ocean, close to the equator.

💨 Atlantic vapors enter the north and northeast of Brazil and make it rain in the Amazon.

🌳 The trees of the Amazon rainforest "pump" rainwater back into the atmosphere through a phenomenon called evapotranspiration, i.e. the rainwater that is trapped in the treetops evaporates and remains in the atmosphere in the form of moisture.

🌧️ The flying rivers that grow in the Amazon distribute rainfall throughout Brazil and are fundamental for water security in the Center-West, South and Southeast of Brazil.

Deforestation in the Amazon affects the phenomenon of 'flying rivers' and can alter the climate in all Brazilian regions.

🏹 August 9 is International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

🌳 A survey carried out by MapBiomas in 2020 shows that Indigenous Lands (ILs) are barriers against the advance of deforestation in Brazil! In the last 35 years, deforestation on Indigenous Lands has been just 1.6%, compared to 20.6% in private areas.

🏹 There are a total of 725 Indigenous Lands in Brazil, more than 200 of which are still awaiting demarcation. Unapproved lands are in the sights of national and multinational businessmen looking to exploit their natural and mineral resources.

🤮 Bills such as the Temporal Framework (PL 2.903/2023) practically make it impossible to ratify Indigenous Lands, as they restrict demarcation only to the peoples who already occupied the lands on October 5, 1988, the date on which the Constitution was signed.

🤔 The problem was that most of the peoples had been expelled from their territories during the colonization process.

⚖️ Demarcation is about justice and historical reparation.
🌱 It's about keeping forests standing and life on earth functioning.

🛢️ The burning of fossil fuels is the main cause of global warming. To avoid mass extinction and the end of the world, we need to take concrete and urgent measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote actions to adapt to climate change, including the transition to renewable energies and forest conservation.

EXTRACTING OIL AT THE MOUTH OF THE AMAZON IS A DOUBLE STEP BACKWARDS

🌱 Energy transition means stopping producing fossil fuels and prioritizing renewable sources that don't harm the environment. Brazil has great potential to lead the energy transition, but we must also lead the transition in thinking and tell the world that there is no longer any point in producing and burning fossil fuels.

🪵 The Amazon has already been devastated and is close to the point of no return, a stage where it would no longer be possible to maintain enough vegetation cover to generate the rain needed to maintain the forest itself. Exploration at the mouth of the Amazon must mean the deterioration of the forest.

🤯 Every damage to the environment generates a chain reaction, negatively impacting all life on earth. Without the forest there is no rain, no water and no food.

🌎 The world must give up fossil fuels because the earth can't take it anymore.

THE RIVERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO EXIST - today is #DiaInternacionalDosRios and it's also one of the hottest days in Brazil's history, proving that global warming and climate change are an emergency!

In a collective action of artivism, today more than 20 rivers from 11 states are raising their voices in a manifesto for their existence:

I am river
Body of water
Endless rapids
Filling and emptying
Alago
I flood the earth with myself
I give water
From the source to the sea
Everything is born this way
Without my body
There is no becoming
For life I have the right to exist

Evoking the Amazonian mythology of Boiúna - a large snake that lives at the bottom of rivers and awakens in fury when it gets bored - more than 30 collectives made art and activist interventions at the edge of rivers or in the concrete that covers these water flows.

Without a river there is no water, no climate balance and no life of any kind.

Long live all Brazilian rivers and the large snakes that inhabit their depths!

The planet is at fever pitch and the snakes guarding the waters are about to make an appearance... 🐍

🤒 "Fever" is a reference to the planet warming by 1.5°C above normal temperature. This limit is the maximum we can reach, according to scientists and scholars, in order to avoid worse disasters and impacts on life on Earth and the extinction of various species, including the human species.

🌡️ The warming of oceans and rivers is also one of the main impacts when we talk about global warming. The water loses oxygen and there is a risk of a huge loss of marine species, impacting life on the planet.

🥵 This week will see record heat across Brazil.

📈 According to studies by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), we are already in a climate collapse scenario.

🌎 We will face irreversible environmental disasters if we don't slow down the consumption of fossil fuels and the deforestation of the planet's forests, among many other human actions.

Lula has until Friday (October 20, 2023) to veto or sanction the Temporary Framework for Indigenous Lands.

⚖️ INCONSTITUTIONAL _ The Supreme Court has already judged the Temporal Milestone thesis to be unconstitutional, but the Senate, led by the ruralist caucus, approved a bill based on the temporal milestone, and it now goes to President Lula, who has the power to veto any bill.

🤮 The Temporal Framework establishes that only those lands occupied by these peoples until October 5, 1988, the date of the promulgation of the Federal Constitution, will be recognized as Indigenous Lands.
However, this measure ignores the historical reality and the constant struggle of indigenous peoples for the demarcation of their lands. Many communities have been expelled from their traditional territories over the years, whether through violence, unbridled economic exploitation or political pressure.

In addition, the veto of the Temporary Framework will also contribute to preserving the environment and promoting sustainability, i.e. mitigating climate change. Indigenous lands play a fundamental role in conserving biodiversity and protecting natural resources, and are essential for maintaining ecological balance.

🌱 It is FUNDAMENTAL that President Lula exercises his veto power and takes a stand in favor of indigenous peoples, social justice and environmental preservation. This decision will have a significant impact on building a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable society.

🌪️ It's a climate of extreme events. This month the Rio Negro in Manaus hit one of the worst droughts in its history.

🐬Other rivers in the Amazon are experiencing the destruction of their ecosystems and the death of more than 10% of their pink dolphins.

🐍 Meanwhile, rains are causing severe flooding and even threatening to break dams in southern Brazil.

📣More than 200 cities in Brazil are in an EMERGENCY situation. Extreme events are a consequence of the global rise in temperature. The fever that has been ravaging the planet has causes: the use of fossil fuels, deforestation and unbridled consumption of meat.

#éclima #éclimadeeventosextremos #manaus #amazônia

🥗 Reducing meat consumption and increasing consumption of plant-based foods are small changes that have a HUGE impact on reducing CO2 emissions. GHGs (greenhouse gases) cause global warming.

🍖 Meat is responsible for 57% of the greenhouse gases emitted by Brazil, according to a study launched by @observatoriodoclima and partner organizations.

During the production process of Brazilian meat, deforestation accounts for 70.6% of emissions, followed by direct emissions from cattle burping, which amount to 29.2%.

🌱 By eating more vegetables and less meat, we contribute to reducing the demand for intensive animal husbandry and, consequently, to reducing emissions. It also helps to preserve natural resources such as water and land, which are used in large quantities in meat production.

Hi Juma 😍

🐆 The jaguar is one of the symbols of the Pantanal, as is the Tuiuiú, a red-fronted bird. The Pantanal lies between the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, in the central-western region, and its boundaries extend to Bolivia and Paraguay.

💦 The biome has one of the largest wetlands in the world, with a unique ecosystem and great biodiversity, which has been pressured by intensifying droughts, increasing fire frequency and rising deforestation rates in recent years. As well as acting as an important climate regulator, the Pantanal absorbs carbon and helps stabilize the regional and global climate.

🌈 Now we have a new chance to find a balance between economic development and conservation in the Southern Pantanal. A Bill is being prepared by the State Government of Mato Grosso do Sul, and should be submitted to the State Legislative Assembly later this month. It's time for all sectors of society to come together and find a path to prosperity for nature and the people who live there and make a living from it.

Preserving the Pantanal means contributing to the health of the environment, to sustainable development and to the quality of life of future generations.

The planet is in a fever 🥵

🌪️ During El Niño, the surface waters of the Pacific Ocean become warmer than normal, causing significant changes in weather patterns. According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, El Niño conditions will persist until the fall of 2024, with their peak intensity occurring between December and February. Meanwhile, CO2 emissions are not decreasing as agreed.

🤒 Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases (GHG) that trap heat in the atmosphere. GHG emissions will only fall by 2% by 2030 at the current rate, according to UN research. This is a far cry from the 43% reduction target needed to meet the Paris Agreement.

🚨 When we add up El Niño + Greenhouse Effect = lots of heat, storms, forest fires and extreme events.

🌎 We need to adapt. This includes investing in infrastructure, taking care of areas of socio-environmental vulnerability, promoting agroecology, stopping the use of fossil fuels, halting deforestation and the unbridled consumption of meat. 🌱

Who is responsible?

📣 Countries' current climate commitments will result in a reduction of only 2% in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 2019.

At the current rate, the result is a long way from the 43% cut recommended by scientists, the United Nations warned in a report released on Tuesday 14 November.

The new report is the annual summary of countries' latest emission reduction commitments, which are known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). These targets were set by the 195 signatories of the Paris Agreement in 2015.

⌛ November 30 sees the start of COP28, the most important COP since 2023 was the hottest year in the planet's history. The COP - United Nations Conference - is an event that brings together all the world's countries to discuss climate issues. The arena for decision-makers!

🌎 Rich countries pollute the most, while poor countries suffer the most from climate change. It's important that rich countries commit to financing the adaptation of poor countries' infrastructure to deal with extreme events 🥵 Global warming is already a reality and has generated more and more extreme events, such as the intense droughts in the north and the strong storms in the south of Brazil.

🚨 It is URGENT that all countries commit to the IMMEDIATE END OF FOSSIL FUEL EXPLORATION and invest in the energy transition to renewable energies, phasing out the use of fossil fuels such as gas, coal and oil. In Brazil, the focus is on preserving the Amazon and other biomes.

🫱🏻‍🫲🏽A cooperation on the ecological transition between the COP 28 countries is essential to effectively tackle the challenges of climate change. Only through collaboration and working together can countries create a livable future for future generations.

Braskem has been drilling into Maceió's soil for minerals for years, and now part of the city is in danger of turning into a giant crater. Already, more than 60,000 people have been displaced and the structure of their homes has been compromised.

On December 5, 2023, the Environmental Institute of the State of Alagoas (IMA-AL) fined petrochemical company Braskem more than R$ 72 million for environmental damage and the risk of collapse at mine 18, in the Mutange region of Maceió. The company was also fined for omitting information about the mine's situation.

🔎 However, in June of this year, the company had already reached an agreement with the municipality of Alagoas that guaranteed the city R$ 1.7 billion in compensation due to the sinking of the soil in the city's neighborhoods.

🤦🏾 In addition, Braskem is injecting sand to cover the craters, and the sand is being taken from an environmentally protected area. Another crime is being committed.

⚖️ Will Braskem stop committing crimes? Will it pay for its crimes?

🔥 The End of the World Auction is coming!

🤦🏾‍♀️A Brazil's participation in COP 28 was marked by talk of preservation and the reduction of fossil fuels, while in practice we are like this:

👉 The ANP's (National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency) End of the World Auction, which will make 603 blocks available for oil and gas exploration, will have a major impact on conservation units, indigenous lands and quilombola territories. It has the potential to emit 1 billion tons of carbon equivalent into the atmosphere, which corresponds to 43.5% of the country's current emissions, according to a study published by the Arayara International Institute.

👉 Alliance with OPEC+, an expanded bloc of the world's largest oil producers.

👉 Approval in the Chamber of Deputies of the "green agenda", a bill that regulates offshore wind farms, bringing incentives to contract coal-fired power plants, a fuel considered to be one of the most polluting in the world.

👉 Winner of the negative Fossil of the Day "prize", awarded at COP 28 to the worst daily climate performance.

We urgently need to bring discourse closer to practice.

🌱 Taking action is our great challenge!!!

🆘 The climate emergency alerts us to a collective struggle:
Living Forest, Humanity present!

🌳 The living dreams of Chico Mendes echo around the world, even 35 years after his assassination. Ever more relevant and necessary, the words of the rubber tapper leader continue to inspire us to continue his struggle in defense of the forest, the Amazon and humanity.

✊🏽 "The problem of the destruction of our forests affects not only the Brazilian people, but the people of the entire planet," the great master told us.

🌱 For this, Chico left us important legacies, such as the Alliance of Forest Peoples, the Extractive Reserves, and the hope of a Revolution led by the youth of the present and future times.

🌿 The Chico Mendes 35 Years Week, which runs from December 15 to 22, is a time to join forces in a great struggle against the devastation of our territories, our biodiversity and our achievements! It's time to take back the rights that have historically been denied, in an attempt to erase and make invisible our cultures and ancestry.

It's time for a comeback, it's time for a draw... it's time for a Comeback Draw! ✨
