Constantin Stanislavski and Vsevolod Meierhold, artists of the modern stage and the first Russian avant-garde, began the great transformations of theatrical performance at the beginning of the 20th century, creating research spaces, the Studios, where they conducted their creative practices, observed and systematized the means of expression and composition of the actor and the scene, shifting the axis of scenic practice, which began to revolve around the process and no longer (or only) about the product.<\/span><\/p>\n

The relationship of artistic affiliation between the two Russian artists is not just a direct result of the rapprochement between master - Stanislavski - and disciple - Meierhold - but, rather, of the common recognition of the complexity of scenic language and the need to confront its technical, poetic, ethical and aesthetic means, taking the actor's action as the radiating center of the scenic experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

They both practically tackled this issue through continuous making and remaking - which is, in turn, inseparable from the materiality of the craft itself, demonstrating that there is no Art without Craftsmanship (SENETT). <\/span>However, each of them has built an approach <\/span>poetics-ethics-technics-aesthetics<\/span><\/i> singular, which was organized through a <\/span>system<\/span><\/i> performance<\/span><\/i>in the case of the actor and pedagogue Constantin Stanislavski; and of a <\/span>stage composition system<\/span><\/i>in the case of the director and pedagogue V. Meierhold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Laboratory <\/span>Acting: two perspectives<\/span><\/i> investigates in a practical way a unique dramaturgical material, prospected in two distinct materialities: <\/span>the life of the spirit <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>muscles of the imagination. <\/span><\/i>This reflects the perspective of the director and theater pedagogue <\/span>maria tha\u00eds<\/b> - based on her observation and practice of the Russian tradition and her trajectory as an artist and pedagogue - on the approximations and differences in the approaches of the two director-pedagogues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is less a quest to \"translate\" the canon of the Russian school - but rather to put the propositions of Stanislavski and Meierhold into practice. <\/span>in perspective<\/b>. In other words, reading the text, the<\/span> leave<\/span><\/i> of the tools created by the two Russian artists, in confluence with the concreteness of \"where the feet tread\", with the pluriepistemic ethical-poetic principles that act and express themselves in the body-life of the actors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
