Theater is Movement

A project conceived by artist-educator Gabriela Mafud.

The classes are a dive into the history of world and Brazilian theater.

Starting with the question: Why did humanity start making theater? Research is carried out to find out about important movements in world and Brazilian theater.

Theatrical games, improvisations, character building and collective creations lead the bodies towards scenic creation. They also facilitate readings of plays, opening the way to getting to know some of theater's important dramaturgies.

"We will fly over the ruins and the theater will be our wings"

Sophia Serqueira and Tarsila Valença 10 years old.

Theater teaching is a fundamental support for the creation of powerful subjectivities. Expanding the construction of self-esteem, self-knowledge and also for a more sensitive and collective vision of experience in the world.

At the end of each semester, we will present a performance. There, the students will experience a performance with stage, aisle and lighting. This show will be presented to their families and friends.

In addition to classes, we'll go on outings coordinated by me to watch theater performances and Brazilian film classics together. Broadening our repertoire and imagination, as well as creating bonds outside the classroom.
