dance - choreography - observation
A performance in the form of research or research in the form of a performance that inherits the language of video editing in the construction of a dance dramaturgy. Using verbal commands such as pause, reverse, acceleration and hold, the performance aims to stimulate observation and the possibility of playing with editing in real time. The question “What do we see when we look at dance?” guides the proposal.
The performance is based on technical improvisation using Tuning Scores. This practice was created by American choreographer and videomaker Lisa Nelson. Beth Bastos, director of Núcleo Pausa, collaborates directly with Lisa Nelson on international projects such as Tune Zoom, recently presented at the RoomDance Festival.
It is worth mentioning that Núcleo Pausa extends this research to music, which is also composed in real time following the “Partituras de Sintonização”.
