BASIN
by Beatriz Coelho
Baciada is a dance work that discusses the adverse social conditions of being a woman and uses the aluminum basin as its scenic object. In its dramaturgy, Baciada elaborates issues related to women of plural natures, coming from diverse historical, socio-economic, cultural and territorial contexts. Women who bear on their bodies the marks of countless and systematic forms of violence, the naturalization of work overload and obligations to care for and reproduce sexually. The basin in the scene is the object that symbolizes the role socially imposed on women, either because of its relation to domestic work or because of its dimension as a receptacle, objectified just like women's bodies.
In the work, a woman, who goes through several scenes, has an intervener, who is her scene partner.
